My Christmas Wishlist!

Its that time of the year when everyone is happy, everyone is preparing for that one special day, all the lights and sounds, the catchy beats, the cool surrounding air, the colorful packages and gifts, the feast. And for the second time i'm making my wishlist. Christmas is not only for kids but for me also.

1. Ipod Touch - every music lovers oxygen tank, and singers' lifeblood
2. As I Am Album of Alicia Keys - the 9-time Grammy winning R&B superstar's 3rd studio album
3. A "pogi" planner - since i don't have the resources and the coffeeholism needed i can't afford that one of starbucks'
4. A wi-fi router - so that wireless heaven could be made possible at home
5. Any spiderman collectible - an addition to my growing collection.

So for those who would read this, better check your pockets and be ready christmas will be very soon.

Blurred

After a record breaking 2 months of blog leave, here i am again fearless and roaring! no one can stop me of blogging of almost all things you could imagine. well what's new with me? let's see, besides a fresh semester, there nothing more you could think of (very ironic with the title of this blog). I have so many plans in the coming months, since it would be the last 5 months in the university i'll surely miss a lot when time comes for work or for graduate studies

Honestly up to this point i still need to weigh my priorities and plan my life, the vision of the future is blurred. I know that if I work immediately after graduation, I would be a forever helpless and routined slave, based from the experiences i had when i was an intern in two companies last summer, I promised myself i will not land on a job as routinary and as boring as it is. Sorry for being so lame... Anyways I still have some months to decide.

Another option for me would be to enroll to graduate studies. This is so good to know..the options are so limitless and interesting. If ever i intend to pursue such, i would limit myself into two universities only. About the course to take..hmm..If i'll be going to go with the flow..i would take up masters in human resource, industrial or organizational psychology, or mba. but other things also interests me like taking up dev't psyche (there's a part of me who wants to be a child psychologist of some sort), media studies (the zigzag world of media is of my interests), social psyche(i want to prove that psychology is a science just like physics and other fields in the natural sciences taking from the work of Dr. Solomon Asch of UPenn) yah! I know I am very ambitious. There's also a part of me who wants a post-grad degree in marketing and advertising because consumer psychology/behavior also interests me. I am a walking confusion of alot of things

I know, i know in months with God's guidance and with the help of my rational thinking and my mentors in UST. I wcould finally decide what to do after graduation, because af of the moment as i mentioned earlier Life after graduation for me is still unclear like choosing between three openings in a cave. You don't know where it will bring you.

I've been Simpsonized

this is how i am going to look like if i'm living springfield with the simpsons...it took me about an hour to do this, it's not that easy one mustbe realistic in matching the features of the face, like my spectacles, and of course my body type...

you read it right! i'm fresh from BLOG HIBERNATION..it has been months since i REALLY blog..i've been very much occupied by too much school work. since i'm already in my senior year i'm also busy doing thesis. i'm also busy doing my first org project: company tour at people support and bank of commerce. luckily wala kaming exam for tues-thurs..which means review and at the same time bum day din..3 more exams to go at half-way na for first sem.

at last makakapag-blog din ako. namiss ko 'to sobra!

last friday since my class would be around 6 pm pa, so i decided to try out pgma's new pasig river ferry, which has been getting the buzz aroung lately.

so here'e my little review for the latter.

SECURITY: Super inspection ang gagwin ng guard sa'yo once na pumasok ka sa stations nila, so i think there's no need for you to worry kung may mga holduppers or criminals around.

SAFETY: once na nakapasok ka na sa actual ferry boat, you can see that lifevests are very much available under your seats. so no need to worry of getting drowned or whatsoever. PERO I DON'T WANT TO IMAGINE MYSELF GETTING INTO THE RIVER NO WAY!

COMFORT: the stations are fullyairconditioned and clean as well as the ferry boats itself.
and don'ty worry about the smell of the river getting inside the boat, you can't even smell a thing!
the seats are made of blue plastic, so it's quite hard to sat on.
they played this celine dion concert dvd during my ride, and i think that's the only thing they would play.

CLEANLINESS: the stations are really clean (or because bago pa lang kasi!?) as well as the boat itself.

PRICE: I was not so sure about this one, since i was wearing my uniform, kaya binigyan ako ng student discount nung teller. i paid 38.25 to be exact. so if not either a student or a senior citizen expect a 40+ fare from guadalupe to escolta (so far these two stations pa lang ang dulo).

TIME EFFICIENY: i left the gudalupe station at 3:07 pm and i arrived at the escolta station at 3:48 pm. not bad ah!? less than an hour free from traffic.

THINGS ENJOYED: hmm i went to see the undiscovered trails of the pasig river. i saw different spot in the metro, one can get a good view of the riverside (except the slums, because these are reflections of urban ugliness and poverty).

speaking of different riverside spots here are some pictures from the trip

guadalupe station

Pioneer mandaluyong area

JP Rizal Street in Makati, riverside being facelifted

Makati City Hall

Some vessels boating thru pasig river

Rockwell Center

MMDA Flood-cotrol system boat

mandaluyong bridge?

Manila boat club

another pasig river ferry boat

Slums: refelction of poverty and urban ugliness

sTa ana station: i bet the letter was stolen..

PUP Station

pandacan area

after this area (nagatahan etc.) i was already stopped by the guards, because we are already approaching the malacañan area, so bawal magpicture for securtity purposes daw

factory along u.n. avenue ito

ayala bridge

LRT 1

Post office building

post office building pa rin..

escolta station, my destination for the day

all in all the ferry ride was enjoying, parang field trip in manila na ginawa ko eh...anyways this is very enjoyable specially if you have the luxury of time to do things..

Makati Boy!

From tomorrow up to 200 hours, this will be my 2nd home (Address: LKG Tower, Ayala Avenue, Makati City)

Tomorrow would be my first day of work at my company, i'm having mixed emotions right now, a certain percent of my feelings would be excitement. I'm excited for my tommorow's work, questions like: what am i going to do on my first day? will it be enjoyable or something? or a disaster? will the people in my company be accomodating? kind? generous? considering its a multi? still buzzes in my mind up to this hour while doing this blog. A good song that could perfectly match my upcoming experience tommorow would be Carrie Underwood's Jesus takes the wheel, surely a lot of adjustment and all must be observed in the next weeks to come...since i'm going to spend 200 hours of service with that company. A feeling of pride runs through my veins also, because according to my dad i'm the first one to undergo an internship in the hr department of this company, besting out some 3 schools out there, this i have to double check...if ever the info is true, then lucky me!
Things I want to happen:
  • prove that THOMASIANS rock! even though we have cheaper tuition than other 2 schools.
  • first day high! (parang classes resume lang ah!)
  • to do my tasks well (i mean very well!)
  • that i'll be exposed to all facets of hr (compe and ben, training {sana!}, od, recruitment and placement, labor {wag naman sana!} testing and assessment etc.)
  • to project a good first impression (as they say first impressions last!)
  • to build good relationship with my immediate supervisors and officemates!
  • and lastly di sana ma-LATE sa first day of work!

Love and Family

Mixed Clans: Yamzons in Yellow, Arabits in Red, Bautistas in Blue, and Olmedos in Green

"Our theme calls us to be aware and acknowledge, accept and appreciate our
origins and attend to the field of love we live in. So today is a collective
honoring of who we are, where we come from, and what we can still make of
ourselves.

To embrace our roots is a gesture of love to humbly claim
our human heritage, the incredible intertwining of mutual streams of ancestry,
memory, shadow, and light. Also and more so, we claim our divine heritage as
children of God, the Source, core and primal root of our being...We embrace all
the blessings flowing and running over through time, from our great-great
grandparents to the youngest grandchild of at least eight generations."

This was taken from a quote during the eucharistic celebration in our reunion courtesy of tita angel's blog

Last January 27, 2007 we had a reunion at the Riverbend Hotel in Marikina one momentous event which brought together the yamzons (where i belong), the bautistas, the arabits, and the olmedos. The reunion is just a prequel for a bigger reunion next year, which would include everyone including those who are abroad.

Color Coding: Yellow=Yamzons, Blue=Bautistas, Red=Arabits, Green=Olmedos

The event was an eye opener for me, it made realize a lot of things about my past. Our family tree was presented during the reunion. A lot of discoveries like, each clan has it's own nun for example: the bautistas have sister florence from the religious of the good sheperd, the olmedos have sister mari from the cenacle sisters, the olmedos have a theresian sister, while the yamzons have the late Rev. Mother Josefina Yamzon, Religious of the Virgin Mary. who served as the mother superior of the order for some years. Not only this, A lot were also musicians, like our lola alice, a pianist, one of the bautistas was and still a violinist at the white house, another one is a pianist, and one was even given a young artist's award.

Many of our relatives also made it big in the academe, either as a dean or a full professor in their respective universities. A handfull were also succesful in their respective fields in business. All in all the reunion was very succesful with all the games, trivias etc. Congratulations to the organizers of the event. Hoping that there will be a bigger and a more succesful reunion! see you next year!

At the ballroom of the Riverbend Hotel with the theme: Embracing the roots of our being

Everyone was trying to greet each one, but we are way too many..

On the Treshold of Losing Good Terms

They say friendship can't be measured by anything, friendship is support, friendship is a brotherhood. having friends is an escape from nomadity, it's also a force of intertwined web of lives. when you have friends (i'm referring to the true ones) you trust them, you give your support to whatever your friend does, you look up to almost same aspirations, you support his/her abilities, talents, and endeavors (whatever good may it be), without holding back, without misconceptions, without underestimations, and most importantly without thinking twice.

The past two weeks has been so stressful to me. first, i've resigned from my current post as an officer on my organization (pax romana), and it has been so painful to me. pax romana has been my home away from home, it has nurtured me as a responsible Catholic. it has established me a network of friends, i've worked with uncomparable people who love me for what i am and for what i do. they accepted me as i was. it has been sweat and blood that has been my capital for staying in the organization. to sing doubles the prayer, that's one of the things i do in pax. (i sing for the choir, that's my service to God).

Things just came out really really fast, so fast it left me so confused and pre-occupied for almost all the time, i know that God has a purpose for putting me in this situation. the original plan for me and my classmate was to join forces and run for a position in our society (behavioral science society), my classmate as the president, and me as the vice president (juggling between ext and int). Too many uninteresting things happen, that's why i ended up running with another party (and i'm not going to tell the details here, this is not the place). Some days ago, i've talked with one my good friends regarding the feelings (side) of the class of me running instead of my classmate, she told me some good points, but of course, what made me feel a little bad, was "they had wanted my classmate more to run for a particular position in the society rather than me", it may not be verbatim, but that's what her statements scream out. Well, i'm not gonna tell keenly more of the details of our simple chit-chat..it simply boils down to the fact that i was less preferred / less wanted, take this: if the opposite happened "me telling my classmate to run instead of me" what do you think would happen?? what would the circumstances and situation be??

These are the things that i don't want to happen:

Losing good terms
Losing confidence of feelings , and trust
Destroying a bond
Ending up alone
Me against the world

I wish they could read this and see my side of the story
GODSPEED!

Responsibilty as a Citizen of the Republic

Oh! this entry is so outdated, actually i intentionally left it unpublished so that i can organize my thoughts more for a longer time, and besides, the past weeks has been hell to me (as if i have a choice!?)

mag-register ka! its your responsibility!

It was on my political dynamics class under sir tayao that i've learned how voting is considered to be a crime on other countries, he gave australia as an example, he said that there, "not voting is against the law", while here in our country the power to vote is just being taken for granted or worst, being ignored. the 2007 elections is fast approaching, so it's time to register, at first i thought that it would be easy, fill-out forms here, sign there etc. but long lines proved me wrong, the lines were so healthy it mimics an anaconda. all in all i took me three days after i got my stub (a shitty piece of paper, indicating that you are already a registered voter)..what made it worst was the employees' attitudes towards us, those people! so unpolite, so annoying, so rude i mean think of all the bad adjectives you can think of... another thing, the registration showed how filipino would say "mamaya na!" in his/her responsibilities or in other words our very famous mañana habit, one employee exclaimed "ngayon kayo nagpupunta nuong mga nakaraang buwan walang katao-tao dito! (aray! natamaan ata ako dun ah!)... what was funny was that its an undeniable truth, if only i did listen to what my mom was telling me to register already..to avoid the long lines (tigas kasi nang ulo ko eh!), it was also my first time to get a police clearance (actually to see one also), the people from the station (police) were kind enough (i mean tollerable naman sila) compared to the people in the comelec office.
i went there with jac and alvin 2 of my highschool friends..
